~ Peter Fagan ~ ~ The Curios Shop ~
Made of cold cast resin and hand painted in Scotland, this Colour Box piece has been originally hand sculpted by artist Peter Fagan who is more than an artist. He is also a collector. Peter shares his collections by modelling perfect miniatures of those that are close to his heart. This Colourbox piece is part of the Teddy Collection and measures approximately 8 inches tall with a base of 6 x 8. This piece was originally issued in 1988. This was one of the first pieces from this collection. In 1987, Peter and Frances Fagan were on holiday in Belgium, when one wet afternoon in Bruges they took shelter in an old curios shop and there amongst the bric-a-brac, Peter spied a number of old teddy bears, four in all. He purchased three of them and christened them Robert, Peregrine andAugust String Bear. After a sleepless night of regret of leaving the fourth, he went back for Gustav von Bruin. This piece is a sculpture of this old Curios Shop in Bruges and features all four of the bears. Two mould versions of this piece have been discovered.
