The Pennywhistle Lane Collection was released in 1993, the tenth year of Colour Box. Like the Teddy Bears Collection, the central figurine characters are based on real toys owned by Peter Fagan. He transported them into an imaginary setting based upon the notion of "what you might discover in the attic of an old, once deserted cottage" - dolls, teddies, toys and an assortment of fascinating bric-a-brac, not to mention a family of mice! The first piece in the collection, The Attic, is the home of all the characters, and is the first part of a model of the whole of Number One Pennywhistle Lane that Peter sculpted room by room. The mice who live in the attic are called the Whistlers and they, together with all the other characters, have stories to tell, courtesy of Frances Fagan.
