~ Peter Fagan ~ ~ Sopwith’s Solo Flight ~
Made of cold cast resin and hand painted in Scotland, this Colour Box piece has been originally hand sculpted by artist Peter Fagan who is more than an artist. He is also a collector. Peter shares his collections by modelling perfect miniatures of those that are close to his heart. This piece is part of the Teddy Collection and measures approximately 3¾ inches tall, was issued as a Collectors Club member’s piece in 1994 and was only available for a year. The piece had to be ordered from retailers by presenting a Redemption Certificate supplied with the Club newsletter. Every piece was presented with a certificate of authenticity. This piece features Sopwith the aviator bear. The original Sopwith bear was awarded his wings in 1992 having flown in an RAF Tornado Jet, his first flight for 75 years. Subsequently Peter and Frances bought him a radio-controlled model of an SE5, the kind of plane he had flown in with his owner during World War I, so that he could make his firs ever solo flight. The aeroplanes fuselage is cast in two sections, which were then glued together. On the first models produced, the cut was made lengthways, creating a top and a bottom, but this was soon changed to a vertical cut creating a front and a back. A Colourway of this piece was produced for the Colour Box Collectors Event of 1997 and was limited to 200. We have many other items in our Ebay Shop, Click here to see what we have.
