~ Peter Fagan ~ ~ Centimental Bear ~ ~ Sopwith Gets Ready ~ Made of cold cast resin and hand painted in Scotland, this Colour Box piece has been originally hand sculpted by artist Peter Fagan who is more than an artist. He is also a collector. Peter shares his collections by modelling perfect miniatures of those that are close to his heart. This piece is part of the Centimental Bear Collection and measures approximately 1¾ inches tall. Originally issued as part of the Teddy Collectionin 1990 and retired in 1994, this piece is different to the UK Sopwith as he is sculpted with a pumpkin and a book on how to make your own Halloween Lantern. Sopwith is a bear who was a young aviator, driven by a passion for flying. He lived with his friend and hero Second Lieutenant Arthur Turnbull of the Royal Flying Corps. Sopwith’s real name is Edward Bear, but a competition was held to select a nickname for him when he entered the Colour Box Collection. He appears on several other Teddy Collection sculptures; All At Sea, Flying Ace and Sopwith’s Solo Flight.
