~ Peter Fagan ~ ~ Teddy Bridge ~
Made of cold cast resin and hand painted in Scotland, this Colour Box piece has been originally hand sculpted by artist Peter Fagan who is more than an artist. He is also a collector. Peter shares his collections by modelling perfect miniatures of those that are close to his heart. This is part of the Teddy Collection, measures approximately 7 inches tall and is one of ten in a worldwide Limited Edition by Peter Fagan. This unique piece was made to celebrate the 10 years of Colour Box Hug of Bears in 1997. The bears on the bridge are Robert, Peregrine, August String Bear, Gustav Von Bruin, Fluffy, Jonathan, Dickie Bear, Theodore, Teddy Robinson, Christopher, Peter, Davy, Danny, Bruno and Johan. These bears were the original teddies launched when the collection began, gathered around Danny the Anniversary Bear created to mark the anniversary. The bears are standing on a bridge similar to one of the many bridges in the Belgium town of Bruges, where the first four Colour Box original bears were purchased. Each of the ten pieces is unique, as they all have varied paintways, although they do feature the same bears. An illustrated certificate accompanied each bridge and the artist, Peter Fagan, signed both the certificate and the piece. Each piece is mounted on a mahogany stand with an appropriate engraved numbered brass plaque. Each bridge was auctioned at the Collectors event held in Lauder on 9th and 10th August 1997 which raised over £44,000. The bridges each sold for between £1000 and £1600 each.
