~ Peter Fagan ~ ~ Teddy Escu (Colourway)~
Made of cold cast resin and hand painted in Scotland, this Colour Box piece has been originally hand sculpted by artist Peter Fagan who is more than an artist. He is also a collector. Peter shares his collections by modelling perfect miniatures of those that are close to his heart. This Colourbox piece is part of the Teddy Collection and measures approximately 2 inches tall. Originally issued in 1993 and retired in 1997, this piece features a bear whose life started in Holland where he was just called Teddy. One day his family saw pictures of very sad little children in Romania who needed help and he was packed away with some other toys and sent across Europe to Orphanage 5 in Bucharest. The doctors were pleased to get parcels, but the children needed food and milk and warm clothes more than toys. Teddy Escu was sent to London to be sold at auction and it was there that Peter Fagan adopted him. The money raised by the sale was sent back to Romania where it was used to buy the children new cots. Teddy Escu’s new name came from the Romanian children and he certainly very proud to have helped. Teddy Escu also appears on the piece Day At The Races and the USA version of Letter To Santa. This piece is a colourway version produced for a shop promotion in Germany. He is still wearing his blue jumper but has a stylish red diamond design knitted on the front. His hat also has a red trim and star design.
